Shift from Why to What’s Next?

When I was little, I remember my favorite question was “why?” And to this day, I find myself stuck in an endless cycle of wonder why something happened or why I didn’t get what I wanted. We all find ourselves getting stuck in the land of why? Constantly thinking about it and desperately hoping that an answer to the question will somehow make it ok.

Yes, it’s perfectly fine to wonder why. It’s a valid question to ask, and you rightfully deserve an answer. The thing is, you don’t want to spend the rest of your life in that place. The energy of the question is different from the energy of the answer. Which means your current feelings of frustration and curiosity, can shift towards understanding and appreciation with just a moment of intention.

Why’s have their place in gaining insight and finding reasons for how your life has evolved, but often too much focus on why’s makes you a victim of the past and a prisoner of your own mind.

How about freeing yourself from the prison of the past so you can start to see what’s next? How about taking a moment to shift there now…

Quietly ask yourself your “why” question. Say it clearly in your mind.

Why…

And since the body doesn’t speak through words, it speaks through sensation,

Notice in your body where the question is coming from.

Where do you feel the question in your body…

Now pretend there’s a part of you that knows the answer to that question,

a part of you that sees your life beyond this situation and has the wisdom and assurance you need.

When you sense that part, take a breath and relax into that presence,

letting your body absorb that comfort.

Allow that comforting presence to touch the places in your body where you feel that question,

and stay here as long as you’d like, sensing the assurance.

When you’re ready, thank that part for offering their presence.

You may notice an inner nod of appreciation or you may notice a soft smile,

Thank your body for this experience.

Moving towards what’s next…

xoxo
